Flight 56 (Test) was chartered many years ago by the flight test aviators of Edwards AFB, CA. Our ranks have included numerous astronauts, general officers, test pilots and other highly skilled aviators from the flight test community, some of them living legends. We strive to encourage aviation careers among the youth of the Antelope Valley, a site rich in aerospace history and in which more is added to that history daily.

A Movie Producer's view of Aviation and Warfare (Tue, 28 Oct 08)
Special thanks to Mr. Brandon Hogan for giving Flight 56 an interesting and colorful look into his civilian aviation experiences and his several visits to the war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Tales of a tanker crew that went above and beyond (Tue, 23 Sep 08)
Special thanks to LTC Clifton "Mojo" Janney for his superb telling of a KC-135 war-story from the Kosovo conflict. Even more amazing than the actual heroic flying he and his crew did to keep an A-10 from running out of fuel at night over hostile territory was the after-the-fact drama that unfolded around deciding who would get what medals for this brave feat of flying.
A slightly smaller than normal crowd (most likely due to the annual Test Pilot symposium at Disneyland starting the next day) was on hand for a good meal and Mojo's great tale. A very productive raffle resulted in one lucky member winning a fine bottle of scotch and a nice stipend for the scholarship fund. We look forward to having our attendance back up to full strength at Fresco II in Lancaster in October.
