Flight 56 (Test) was chartered on 20 March 1978 by the flight test aviators of Edwards AFB, CA. Our ranks have included numerous astronauts, test pilots and other highly skilled aviators from the flight test community, some of them living legends. We strive to encourage aviation careers among the youth of the Antelope Valley, a site rich in aerospace history and in which more is added to that history daily.

Dodging SAMs in Southeast Asia (Tue, 26 Jan 10)
Welcome back from the vacation everyone. The Christmas party was fantastic. Thanks to all who helped make for a memorable night. Our January Meeting is back at Club Muroc. We have a great speaker for this event. He is Ed "E. D." McKim - a Buff and SR-71 guy. He entered the USAF in 1970, spent 15 years on active duty, and has been in aerospace for 25 years in SoCal, at Hughes, Lockheed-Martin, and is currently working for Northrop-Grumman in Palmdale. E.D. will be telling us about his techniques for "Dodging SAMs in Southeast Asia" and elsewhere. The menu at the club includes some great favorites. Programming note: the venerable Bob Kay (K-Bob) will be taking over for me as Adjutant. Please give him all the great assistance that you gave me during my term! See ya there!

Christmas Party and Combat Gift Exchange (Thu, 10 Dec 09)
The votes are all in and we are having our Christmas Party on December 10th at the Antelope Valley Country Club! Thanks to those who weighed in and for your patience as we sorted out these conflicts to accomodate the most people. We start at 6:00 with the usual cheer, and DJ Kelly will entertain us again; he did a fantastic job for us last year. And get ready: we are having our usual brutal (in the holiday spirit!) Combat Gift Exchange. Guidelines for this year are one gift per couple in the $10-$15 price range. Following dinner, the dance floor will be open to finish the evening. Spouses are especially invited of course; but this would also be a great night to bring prospective members. Dress for our party will be coat and tie for the guys and ladies as appropriate for the occasion! We have a great menu, so answer as soon as possible with your choices and we will see you at AVCC next Thursday.

National Dues and Election
Posted by: Ice

You should have just received, or will receive within the next day or two, the dues notice and annual election ballot from the Order. Please take a few minutes to complete this action now so it does not get lost and you end up unpaid on Order dues. For those of you who are not life members, consider going that path…then you will never have to remember to pay dues again!
